BirdingRio is an eco-tourism Brazilian company that offers birdwatching tours in the fantastic Atlantic Forest of Brazil's Southeast region. More and more birdwatchers from all over the world come to Brazil to see the beauty of this amazing forest rich in endemic bird species. With our highly qualified team led by Ricardo Parrini we can take you to the best birding spots in the most efficient way. Come to Rio de Janeiro for an unforgettable birding adventure with us!

The Atlantic Forest is one of the  most threatened ecosystems in the world and is famous for its wealth of endemic plants and animals. Drastic human exploitation has reduced the forest to about 8% of its former size. Today most of what remains of the Atlantic Forest lies in national parks and reserves.

The city of Rio de Janeiro provides an excellent entry point to see the endemic birds of southeast Brazil since it is close to the Tijuca, Itatiaia and Serra dos Órgãos national parks. In these parks visitors can appreciate the exuberance of a forest which has escaped human destruction and remains in its pristine condition, containing one of the most threatened bird communities on this planet. In a single day you can see dozens of endemic species, from fascinating hummingbirds to colourful tanagers.

Within the forest, various groups of birds exploit different microhabitats: foliage gleaners and antbirds catch insects in the foliage; leaftossers and antthrushes hunt for prey on the forest floor; woodcreepers and woodpeckers search in trunks and bromeliads; tanagers move about looking for small fruit in the canopy; hummingbirds search for flowers in creepers, bromeliads and bushes. Life in the Atlantic Forest provides us constant surprises!
